THPL MISSION STATEMENT:

The Two Harbors Area Public Library provides a welcoming space with a wide variety of resources in print and other media for the education and enjoyment of everyone – children, youth, and adults.

Happy 100th Birthday THPL!

The grand opening of the Two Harbors Public Library on July 20th, 1909 was made possible by a generous donation of $15,000 from Andrew Carnegie and the efforts of a dedicated group of citizens who created a library with a collection of 481 books.

Today the library has almost 33,000 items and had over 57,000 patron visits in 2008.  This summer, a new entryway and patio is being planned.  It will replace the badly deteriorated sidewalk and retaining wall, while creating a brand new outdoor sitting area.

Memorial Pavers & Patio Project

The patio will be lined with Memorial Pavers engraved to celebrate a special occasion or to honor and remember an individual or family.  Pavers can be reserved for a donation of $100.  Other items that may be contributed include bench seating, historic lighting, trees, and landscaping.

If you would like to contribute, click here, print, and fill out the form (you will need Adobe reader to view the form).  You may mail the form back or return it to the library front desk.  Examples of the pavers are on display at the library.
The Two Harbors Public Library serves approximately 6,000 residents of the City of Two Harbors and the surrounding rural area of Lake County, Minnesota.

The Library is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees and has five permanent staff members. The Two Harbors Library is a member of the Arrowhead Library System, a federation of 29 libraries in northeastern Minnesota.
